Prescriptions are available from us. You may obtain relevant veterinary medicinal products from your veterinary surgery OR ask for a written prescription (for which there is a charge) and obtain these medicines from a pharmacy or an on-line pharmacy.
Our vets are permitted to prescribe relevant veterinary medicinal products only following a clinical assessment of an animal under his or her care.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your horse is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.
You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your horse.
If you require a written prescription for medication to get fulfilled somewhere other than Valley Equine, please ensure that 3 days notice is given. A written prescription fee will apply (fee available on request).
Repeat prescriptions
The general policy of this practice is to re-assess a horse requiring repeat prescriptions for, of supplies of, relevant veterinary medicinal products every 6 months but this may vary with individual circumstances. There is a charge for a re-examination (available on request).
If your horse is due more of their usual medication, please contact us no less than 48-hours before you would like to collect this. This may be done by completing the repeat prescription form or calling the surgery.
Please note we ask for at least two working days’ notice, so that our staff have the opportunity to order this specifically should we need to, but also to ensure that the medicine is still appropriate for your horse, and to arrange a recheck if necessary.
Any medicines or written prescriptions should be collected within 7 days and must be paid for on collection.
